The Passiv Programmer is where you can control your hot water as well as set up your heating and hot water schedules. Your programmer will be wall-mounted somewhere in your home. It is likely to be near your hot water tank, such as in an airing cupboard. It will look like this:
There are just four buttons on the Programmer - Down, Centre, Up, and Back.
When you first find your Programmer, it will be asleep. This means the screen will be turned off. Pressing any button will wake the Programmer.
Once the Programmer is awake, it will display the current temperature and heating status for each Thermostat in your home. It will also display the current percentage of useful hot water in your hot water tank. See below for a guide on what the different elements on your Programmer mean.
Pressing any button on the Programmer home screen will open up the main menu. This menu can be navigated using the Up and Down buttons, and items on the menu can be selected using the Centre button.
Hot water boost
Selecting this menu item will tell your heat pump to heat your water tank. The heating system will then aim to keep your hot water tank full for the next hour. During this time, hot water will take precedence over heating; if the heat pump needs to provide hot water to keep your tank full, it will not provide hot water to your radiators. To cancel this request, select the same menu item again.
Schedules
The 'Schedules' option will allow you to set schedules for your hot water and each heating zone. Upon selecting Schedules, you will see the following screen:
Selecting any of these options will bring you into the corresponding scheduling screen. For your heating zones, this will look like like the picture below:
Use the Up and Down buttons to navigate through each day, and then use the Centre button to enter a specific day. When you select a day, you will see additional options, as below:
You can select 'Add period' to add an additional heating period to that day. Selecting 'Delete period' will give you the option to delete an existing heating period. 'Copy schedule' allows you to copy this day’s heating schedule to other days of the week.
Selecting an existing period allows you to edit that period. When either editing or adding a period, you will change each number in turn using the Up and Down buttons. When you are happy with a given value, press the Centre button to go to the next one. The first value indicates the start time, the second value the end time, and the last value the target temperature in degrees Celsius.
Away Mode
Selecting 'Away mode' will allow you to set your system to Away for a chosen period of time. Whilst in Away mode, your heat pump will not provide any heating or hot water to your home. Upon selecting 'Away mode' you will see the screen below:
When turning on Away mode, you will be able to set a start time and an end time. Use the Up and Down buttons to select which time to edit. When editing these times, you can adjust each value individually using the Up and Down buttons, and use the Centre button to move on to the next value. The start time will default to now, and the end time will default to never. This means that your system will not leave Away mode unless you return to the Programmer or app to disable it.
Summer mode
The 'Summer mode' menu option will allow you to turn Summer mode on or off. When in Summer mode, your heat pump will only provide hot water to your home - it will not provide any heating.
Use the Centre button to toggle the Summer mode switch on or off.
Settings
The 'Settings' menu item allows you to adjust and view different elements of your heating system.
The 'About' section allows you to view the software version of the Programmer, Hub and each Thermostat. It will also list your Hub's Identification (ID) number.
'Set date & time' allows you to change the date and time on your system. This is done using the same interface as setting Schedules and Away mode, detailed above. If your Passiv Smart Thermostat is connected to the Broadband, the date and time will be correct automatically and the menu item won't be listed.
'Frost protection' allows you to change your Frost protection temperature. Your home won't drop below this temperature, which can help protect your home against burst pipes in winter. In normal everyday use, it is unlikely your home will get this cold. This temperature is important if you have a prolonged Away period set in the winter. It can also be used to ensure pets or plants don't get too chilly during an Away period.
'Child lock' allows you to turn on the Programmer’s Child lock feature. This will require you to hold down the Centre button for 3 seconds upon waking the Programmer before you can use it.
The 'Reset' option resets the entire Passiv Smart Thermostat system. This will reset all settings and schedules to the default values. It will also disconnect any Passiv accounts from the Hub, which means you will have to re-register the Passiv app before using it to control your heating and hot water again.
App registration
Head to 'App registration' in order to download the Passiv app. Upon selecting this menu item, you will see the screen below:
Scanning the displayed QR code will bring you to a web page from which you will be able to download the app on your corresponding app store. If you already have the app installed, this will automatically open the app. This QR code is also used during app registration to connect your account with your Passiv Smart Thermostat system.
Just moved in?
Selecting 'Just moved in?' will allow you to completely reset the Passiv Smart Thermostat system and bring you to the app registration screen.
Confirming the reset will reset all settings and schedules to the default values. It will also disassociate any app users from the heating system, preventing any existing app users from continuing to control this system’s heating and hot water.
